Framing: For this watercolor project, I chose a shell and painted it in four sections, each with a larger version of the object. I started with a small drawing and gradually made it bigger until the final section showed a close-up that overflowed the edges. We learned to do a “wash” technique as well as a “wet on wet” which for the backgrounds. I planned white spaces on the shell to show its highlights and texture. This project helped me practice composition, color use, using new techniques, and capturing the details of the shell.
